Our Engineered Lumber Forecasting Services

FEA North American Engineered Lumber Service members receive three five-year forecasts and one long-term forecast that takes concepts explored in the five-year publication and extends the analysis over a 15-year time horizon.

All publications include a detailed macroeconomic analysis and forecast which forms the basis for I-Joist and LVL forecasts in each of the following areas:

  • End-Use Indicators
  • Capacity
  • Demand
  • Wood & Manufacturing Costs
  • Prices

In addition, members will receive:

  • Quarterly PowerPoint presentation that summarizes FEA’s latest analysis and forecast
  • One on-site Forecast presentation by FEA economists
  • Two FEA Engineered Lumber Spotlight articles per year that examine a topical issue in close detail. Click here here for an example
    • Unlimited phone contact with your engineered lumber advisors, Art Schmon & Paul Jannke, as well any other member of the FEA team

Single and Multi-Client Research

In an age of bare-bones budgets for internal analysts, you can think of FEA’s analysts as your out-sourced team of economists. In addition to our subscription research products, FEA analysts produce single and multi-client reports that examine issues that may not be covered in depth in our regular reports. Call our team to discuss any project you have in mind.

Who could benefit from FEA timber forecast services? Strategic planners, senior executives, purchasing managers, sales managers, investment analysts, and other stakeholders in the timber industry use FEA forecasts to answer questions such as:

“Where are I-Joist and LVL prices headed over the coming years?”

“What will my wood costs look like in five years?”

“How will wood costs affect the relative shares of LVL and lumber flange I-Joists?”

“What are the factors affecting the substitution of I-Joists and LVL for dimension lumber and where are market shares headed?”

“What impact will LSL have on the demand for LVL going forward?”

“How will population migration trends and house size affect demand for engineered lumber products?”

What is the FEA Edge?

FEA delivers the industry’s best independent third-party analysis by an experienced and dedicated team of experts in the wood products, timber and biomass sectors. FEA does not have the sorts of conflicts of interest that are common among larger horizontally-integrated information providers.

FEA focuses its time and energy on its core competence--economic analysis of the wood, timber and biomass sectors. We have formed strategic partnerships with a variety of other organizations to help us gain a better understanding of adjacent sectors and information categories.

FEA is committed to forming long-term relationships with our clients. We are dedicated to providing you with the information, insights and analysis you need to run your business.
