Russ Taylor
Russ Taylor started his career in forestry with five years at Northwood (Houston, BC) in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he moved into lumber sales, marketing, and custom cutting, spending seven years at Interfor (Vancouver, BC) before starting his consulting career.
Since 1988, Taylor has conducted wood products market analysis/intelligence and business assessment/investment analysis on timber/lumber for global industry clients. He normally travels extensively to key producing, exporting, and importing countries in China, Asia, Russia, Europe, the Southern Hemisphere, and North America to obtain first-hand insights.
During his 28 years operating International WOOD MARKETS Group, he created several “must-have” newsletters and various multi-client reports that involve strategic insights and outlooks for global markets. The business was sold to FEA in 2017 and included a three-year employment contract.
Effective September 2020, Russ has started up the next phase of his career with RUSS TAYLOR GLOBAL – Wood Business & Market Consulting. His previous work continues where he utilizes his vast experience, knowledge, and global network to assist clients with strategic, competitive, and market analyses.
Taylor has a forestry degree (BScF) and an MBA, both from the University of B.C. He is also a B.C.-registered professional forester (RPF-Ret).
