November Housing Starts & Permits

The Census Bureau reported that privately-owned housing starts in November were at a SAAR of 1,482,000. This is 1.4% above the revised October estimate of 1,266,000 and is 11.1% above the November 2018 rate. Single‐family housing starts in November were at a SAAR of 918,000; this is 0.8% above the revised October rate. Permits are the forward-looking portion of the report and privately‐owned housing units authorized by building permits in November were at a SAAR of 1,323,000. This is 3.2% above the revised October rate and is 13.6% above the November 2018 rate.
