West Fraser Reduces Lumber and Plywood Production in British Columbia

West Fraser announced a variable operating schedule at five BC sawmills that will reduce production by 15-25%. The operating schedules at the five mills will vary based on market conditions, but is estimated by the company to remove 100 million board feet through the end of the year. The company also announced the curtailment of B.C. plywood production for two weeks that will reduce production by roughly 9 million square feet.  West Fraser previously announced the temporary curtailment of 125 million board feet of lumber capacity and permanent capacity curtailments of 614 million board feet in 2018 and 2019.
