Stud Mill in Montana Shutting Down due to Lack of Timber

RY Timber is planning to suspend operations at its Townsend studmill due to timber supply. The company cited “uncertainty and delays caused by litigation of Forest Service timber sales” as the primary reason for the lack of timber in the region. The company announced layoffs at the mill are expected to begin in April. Logs from existing timber sales will be directed to the company’s Livingston mill, which will run two shifts at full production.
